How do I set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)?

Learn how to turn on multi-factor authentication for your ChangeTower account using an authenticator app. MFA adds a second step to sign-in, so your account stays protected even if your password is compromised.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Once it's turned on, you sign in with your password plus a one-time code from an authenticator app on your phone.

Before you start

Install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password.

Step 1: Open Account Settings

In ChangeTower, go to Settings from the left navigation menu and open Account Settings.

Step 2: Start MFA setup

Find the multi-factor authentication section and click to enable it. You will need to enter your password to proceed with the setup.

Step 3: Scan the QR code or enter the setup key manually

Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code. The app adds ChangeTower and starts showing a code that refreshes every 30 seconds. If you're having trouble scanning the QR code, you can enter the setup key manually.

Step 4: Confirm and finish

When prompted, enter the current code from your authenticator app. MFA is now enabled on your account.

Signing in with MFA

Next time you sign in, enter your email and password as usual. When asked, open your authenticator app and enter the code shown for ChangeTower.

Good to know

  • MFA is set up per account, so each team member turns it on for their own login.

  • If you sign in with Google or your company's Single Sign-On, extra sign-in security is managed by that provider.
